The Lewis Land Group of Companies made a statement to the retail world in 1999 with the introduction of their Harbour Town Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast. Harbour Town was Australia’s first purpose-built outlet shopping precinct in a major shopping centre.
The retail concept has met with much critical acclaim, winning awards from Property Council of Australia, Royal Australian Institute of Architects and International Council of Shopping Centres. But, more importantly, this new shopping experience has been embraced by the shopping public, including healthy tourism visitations.
The success of the first Harbour Town Shopping Centre has now seen Harbour Town developed in strategic capital city locations throughout Australia jointly by The Lewis Land Group of Companies and ING Real Estate Development Australia. Harbour Town Gold Coast is owned 50% by the Lewis Land Group of Companies, 25% by the Australian Government's Future Fund and 25% by Lend Lease's AAPT Fund; Harbour Town Perth is owned by those funds 50% each; Harbour Town Adelaide is owned 100% by the Lewis Land Group of Companies; and Harbour Town Waterfront City, Melbourne is owned 100% by ING Real Estate Development Australia.
The Lewis Land Group of Companies centre manages the portfolio.
In addition to their shopping centres, The Lewis Land Group of Companies is now entering the retail liquor market, with the purchase of key taverns and bottleshops. This adds a further string to their rapidly expanding property portfolio. |
